One of my passions, instilled in me at a young age by my father during my time living abroad in Turkey and other countries, was the joy of birdwatching. I know it may sound a bit trite, but I’ve always been fascinated by nature in all its forms, and birds are astonishingly fascinating when you study their behavior through the medium of photography. I can study bird behavior while capturing it as an art form as well. This photo provides a glimpse into the behavior and posture of a brown thrasher, which is a member of the mockingbird family. These birds have been recorded by scientists to have over 1000 unique sounds, more than any other bird. They are also fairly aggressive and have been know to attack even humans if their nests are threatened. Note the confidence in the bird’s posture and its yellow eyes, signaling an aggressive demeanor.
